007 — The Work Manifests I find myself talking to ChatGPT or Claude or whatever the case may be every morning. Sometimes it starts innocently enough. A random question here, a random thought there. Sometimes the questions are stupid. Pop culture-oriented. Sometimes they’re reflections on things I’ve always thought about, like my place in my family, or family dynamics, or why certain things still sit with me. But I’ve found that my brain is most active in the morning. A lot of the time, these conversations, they start from this different place. And then they evolve into some serious deep thought work that I end up using much later down the line. Or not even much later down the line, but later down the line. I mean, as an example. I spoke to AI in the context of family dynamics—how my parents operated in business versus how I operate, or how I want to operate. That conversation snowballed into a fuller way of thinking about how to continue architecting my company. Not just as an idea, but as tangible output. In this case, the output was a PowerPoint, the skeleton of a PowerPoint, and a very in-depth document. The PowerPoint was based off the document.

Addendum

As an addendum to this, I would also like to bring up the way the Pixar campus was designed, especially early on. They designed it in such a way that happenstance meetings would occur. They wanted people from different departments to meet each other randomly. The way they did that was by putting a lot of the common amenities in the middle, so people would naturally cross paths. And it’s these random spark conversations that sometimes unlock ideas. They push the needle forward. That is sort of what this feels like. Random, consistent collaboration. It’s not quite speaking to a human, but you can do it every day. It’s pretty cool.
