REAL ARTISTS SHIP

If you’re doing any sort of creative venture, you are an artist. Whether you’re the person photoshopping it, snapping photographs, or just calling people up, you are an artist.

The most “untalented” of us can all be artists if we simply take the steps to do so. An artist is not defined by the medium in which he or she creates, but by the intent.

Intent is a huge piece of the puzzle. Skills can be learned. Somebody can teach you how to draw. You can learn how to dance. You can sit down on a piano and learn a piece.

But it comes with one caveat: a real artist is somebody who displays their work. What good is the most beautiful painting in the world if nobody gets to see it? Art is meant to be experienced - it is meant to be shared.

There are two key things that it takes to be an artist.

The first is the intent to create a work of art, regardless of your skills. Don’t let any misconceptions that you have to be a master with a paintbrush in order to be an artist hinder you.

The second is to get it out there in the world. Real artists ship. They allow the world to see their work, for better or for worse.
