A PUNCH TO THE GUT

“Are you hesitant about (a) new idea because it’s a risky, problematic, defective idea…

or because it’s simply different than you’re used to?”

-Seth Godin

We have some really new cool ideas that we’ve been working on that are coming up and releasing soon. They’re totally different, odd, problematic… you name it.

They’re also totally open to public judgment, and every time you open yourself and your ideas up to everyone, negativity and a dismissive attitude from a large percentage of the population is inevitable.

I think that fear of being judged stops a lot of people from bringing out their inherent brilliance, though. But it really shouldn’t. Every idea, every image that you portray, everything that you do will be judged. The only question is if you have the stomach to take the judgment in the public sphere.

It’s like a public boxing match versus a private sparring session. Being punched in the gut hurts the same amount, whether you’re sparring in an empty gym or getting floored in front of a hundred people.

Thing is though, the sooner that we all realise that we recover from a punch to the gut in the same amount of time regardless of whether it’s publicly or privately, the sooner we can ratchet our species forward with odd, risky, or problematic ideas.
